Richard L. “Hayseed” Searight – Hookstown (Raccoon Township)

Richard L. “Hayseed” Searight, 73, of Hookstown, PA., passed, Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver, following a lengthy illness.

Born, September 11, 1948, in Sewickley, PA., he was the son of the late David A. and Elizabeth Betty Bowman Searight.

Rich was also preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and David Addison Searight and by his stepmother, Delores Searight.

Rich was a graduate of Hopewell High School Class of 1966. He took pride in his strong work ethic. In his lifetime, he proudly served for the United States Navy, and he later retired as an electrician from Horse Head Zinc Corporation. Rich impacted his coworkers greatly and will be deeply missed by them. He also formerly worked for a mobile production oil rig in Louisiana, where he met the love of his life, Kerry. They later married on September 21, 1991.

Rich was an independent, strong-willed man, but he was someone who loved to help others. He adored his farm and animals, especially his corgi dogs, Cliffy Jay and Macy May. He was an avid gardener growing a large vegetable garden and his yard was always blooming with beautiful flowers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kerry Hebert Searight; brother, Paul Searight and wife, Janet; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family from Louisiana that he loved dearly and by his golfing buddy and friend, Ron Grabski.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Beaver County Humane Society or an animal sanctuary of your choice.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA 15050, on Wednesday from 2-8 pm, where his service will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 am. Pastor Robert Kern from Community Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be held at John Anderson Memorial Cemetery.
