Ella M. Lewis – Hookstown

Ella M. Lewis, 81, of Hookstown, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, in East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born December 11, 1937, in Endicott, New York, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Della (Hughes) Conklin. Ella worked for Andy’s Candies for 20 plus years and was a member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, Frankfort Springs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Marvin, Kenny, Bobby, Cecil and Gary.

Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, LeBaron “Barry” Lewis; a son, Greg (Sharon) Lewis, Verona, Pa.; daughter, Tammy (Don) Tokar, Saginaw, Texas; five grandchildren, Amanda and Nicole Lewis, Tiffany Condupa, Matthew Tokar, and Nicholas Thornton; and two sisters, Marlene Hartshorne, Allentown, Pa., and Della (Harry) Wood, Philipsburg, Pa. Michael Martinez – Clinton

Michael Martinez, 59, of Clinton, died Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2019, at Brighton Wellness and Rehabilitation Center, Brighton Twp.

Born March 12, 1959, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Peter and Belia (Sixtos) Martinez. Before his illness he had worked as a chef in the food service industry.

David M. Dilts Sr. – Georgetown (Greene Twp.)

David M. Dilts Sr., 83, of Georgetown (Greene Twp), died peacefully Saturday morning, February 23, 2019, at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver.

Born February 7, 1936, in Indiana, a son of the late Cecil and Margaret (Costello) Dilts, he had worked for 42 years as a clerk with J&L Steel and later LTV. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a SP3, and a member of the Hookstown American Legion. He loved looking for scrap and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Continue reading

William A. Laughlin – Georgetown (Greene Twp.)

William A. Laughlin, 82, of Georgetown (Greene Twp.), died peacefully Friday evening, February 22, 2019, at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver.

Born April 22, 1936, in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of the late Frank Alvin and Mary Ann (Campbell) Laughlin, William along with his late wife owned and operated Laughlin’s Restaurant for 46 years retiring in 2014. He was a member and charter president of the Hookstown Volunteer Fire Dept., and a member of the Shippingport Glasgow Lodge #485 F&AM. William, Blaine Mott, and Bill Burris were the original founders and operators of the South Side Garage.  Continue reading

Samual Vincent Russo – Mt. Lebanon

SAMUEL VINCENT Age 90 of Mt. Lebanon, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21st at St. Clair Hospital. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Smolinski) Russo in May, 2003. Sam grew up in the Hill District in downtown Pittsburgh, helping out in his family grocery store in Beechview. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo Russo and Michelina Leone; and siblings, Philomena, Gaetano, Michelangelo, Violet, Angelina, Norma and Anna Russo. Continue reading

Catherine (Kathy) Chatterly, 93, formerly of Imperial, died Monday, February 18, 2019, at the Lakeview Personal Care Home in South Beaver Twp.

Born December 10, 1925, in Reynoldsville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Elio) Mancuso. Kathy had worked as a beautician and electrolysis technician in addition to being a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Simpson Chatterly; three brothers, Pete, Louie and Ernest Jr., Mancuso.; two sisters, Rosey Mancuso and Mary Weber. Continue reading

Shirley Oscar Price – Chester, W.V.

Shirley Oscar Price, 76, of Chester, died Saturday, February 16, 2019, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born September 14, 1942, in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Woodrow Canden and Thelma (Roberts) Price. A 1962 graduate of Southside High School, he had worked as a machine operator at the former Horsehead Industries in Monaca. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene (Weaver) Price; two brothers, William and Charles Price; a sister, Brenda Anderson; a sister-in-law, Carol Price and brothers-in-law, Paul Wilcoxen and Mike Baker. Continue reading

Howard P. Cain – Hookstown

Howard P. Cain, 77, of Hookstown died Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Heritage VaIley Beaver surrounded by the love of his family, after a brief illness.

Born September 9, 1941, in Florence, Pa., he was a son of the late Ralph and Gladys (Locke) Cain. He had worked as a rigger at Weirton Steel for 31 years and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army as a SP4. Howard was a member of the Hookstown American Legion and loved tinkering in his yard especially keeping up with the grass cutting. Delores Blake-Dobbs, 73, of Greene Twp., died peacefully Monday, February 11, 2019, in the comfort of her home with family at her side.

She was born July 11, 1945, in Cameron, West Virginia, to the late Charles Nelson and Mary Leota (Simms) Durbin. A homemaker, Delores was an avid seamstress and belonged to the Mill Creek EPC of Hookstown and Bethel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd W. Blake; a son, Kevin Blake; two sisters, Nancy Rush and Beth Durbin; and a granddaughter, Kayla. Continue reading

Born October 7, 1946, in Glasgow, Pa., he was a son of the late Max and Thelma (Oldfield) Michael. He had worked as a molder at WHEMCO of Midland.
