Lorna L. McHaffie – GEORGETOWN

Lorna L. McHaffie, 81, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 25, 2014, with family at her side.

She was born on May 26, 1932, in Langeloth, PA. She was the last remaining daughter of the late William Thomas and Orpha Leona (Hoover) Durst. She was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. The memories of all of the wonderful holiday celebrations and picnics will live in her family’s hearts forever.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ila McGeehan (her husband, Paul, survives in California), and Lorraine and Donald Proudfit.

Surviving is her husband, Andrew Gail McHaffie, Sr., with whom she would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on February 1. Also surviving are her children, Andy McHaffie, Jr. and his fiancée, Melissa, of Hookstown; Shelly Youree and her husband, Cam, of Hookstown; Sheila O’Neill and her husband, Larry, of Hookstown and daughter-in-law, Mary Anne McHaffie of New Castle. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Teresa (Michael) Hamilton, Gayle Anne (Jim) Marcy, Ryan (Becky) McHaffie, Laura (Kent) Whitaker, Lance Youree, Ross Youree, Jared (Kelly) O’Neill, Shane O’Neill, and Andi O’Neill. Eleven geat-grandchildren also survive, Brittany, Kellen, Melanie, Tyler, Max, Madelyn, A.J., Logan, Ty, Sydney, and one on the way. A special friend, Norma Brandon, of Georgetown, also survives.

Family and friends are welcome to call in the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA  15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner/Director, Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Her pastor, the Reverend Willard C Adkins of the Georgetown United Methodist Church, will officiate.

She will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
