Leona C. Halstead – HOOKSTOWN

Leona C. Halstead, 89, of Hookstown (Greene Twp.), died Tuesday morning, January 24, 2012, in Fox's Stone Pear Pavilion, Chester, WV.

Born August 8, 1922, in Beverly, OH, she was the last surviving child born to the late Homer and Sylvia (Berry) Campbell. A homemaker, Leona enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing pool.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Red" Halstead, and two brothers, Homer and Jack Campbell.

Surviving are two daughters, Jean and her late husband Gordon Coil, East Liverpool, OH, and Scherie and her husband Robert G. Hopwood, Georgetown; five grandchildren, Sandra Landfried, Samuel Coil, and Robert, Scott and David Hopwood; 10 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the McCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director. Services and interment in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery will be private.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Fox's Stone Pear Pavilion for their loving care and compassion during our beloved mother's stay there.
