Lenora J. Skidmore – Formerly of South Beaver Township

Lenora J. Skidmore, 77, formerly of South Beaver Twp., died Sunday evening, September 3, 2017, in Beaver Valley Health and Rehabilitation, Beaver Falls.

Born May 29, 1940, in Bergoo, W. Va., she was a daughter of the late Worick P. and Alice H. (Cummings) Hamrick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Skidmore Sr., January 19, 2008, and a sister, Lennie Grimes.

Lenora was a member of the Brush Run United Methodist Church, South Beaver Twp., where she was very active …. changing the marquee sign weekly, and visiting the Beaver Valley Nursing Home where she prayed with patients and gave away prayer shawls. She was also a member of the Chippewa Methodist Prayer Group and Witness Ministry Team. Once a month, she along with Lee Vega, went to Cambridge Village Nursing Home for prayer ministry for the elderly. She also belonged to Recovery Ministry Service for women inmates at the Beaver County Jail. She drove school bus for Blackhawk School District and motor coach for McCarters. She also drove tractor trailers coast to coast seeing the U.S.A. and got paid for it! She loved life and people, God’s great outdoors, and hunting on the family farm in West Virginia starting at 12 years old; deer was her favorite still having a nine point buck hanging on her wall.

Surviving are two sons and their children, John and Patty Skidmore, Georgetown and J. P. Skidmore and Amanda Minvhn, and Justin Skidmore; and Tom and Lisa Skidmore, West Virginia and their children, Dr. Brandon Shiflett and her only granddaughter, Brittany Skidmore. A brother, Leonal Hamrick, survives; a brother-in-law, Paul Grimes; a favorite niece, Mary and Don Brown, Cory and Georgetta Brown, Julie and Brian Chips and their son, Philip; a nephew, David and Antonia Grimes and their daughters, Briana and Ryan Bowles, and their son, Brayehen and Samatha and Mario Funair; a niece, Rebecca and Rick Lewis and daughters, Vanessa and Christopher Campbell, and Madeline Lewis and two special sons, Len and Chere Skidmore, and Chris Kincaid and their sons, Ryan, Jeremy, and Adam; and her two best friends, Rose Smith and Penney Scott.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner/Director, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held Thursday, September 7, at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Roddy Sr. officiating. Cremation will take place.
