Leah C. Carothers – KENT, OHIO (FORMERLY OF MONACA)

With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Leah C. Carothers, 35.  She left this world as she came into it with we, her parents, at her side, along with her brother on Thursday afternoon, November 28, 2013, in the Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley.

Born Sept. 23, 1978, in Rochester, beloved daughter of Vince L. and Ruth Leah (Kovac) Carothers, of Monaca; dear sister of Brandon J. Carothers; cherished granddaughter of James and Ruth (Swink) Kovac of Monaca and Minnie Carothers and the late Harry Carothers; also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Leah had worked as a Residence Hall Director at Kent State University where she was involved in the higher education organizations.  An avid Steelers fan, she loved to travel, with Disney World being one of her favorite destinations.  She will be remembered for her infectious laughter and beautiful smile.  She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monaca. 

There will be no visitation and cremation will take place.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church of Monaca, 1301 Indiana Ave., Monaca, Pa. 15061, with the Rev. Beth Wierman officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.  

Memorials in her name may be given in care of the funeral home to her favorite projects at Kent State University. 

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Cleveland Clinic, Kindred Hospital and the folks at Good Samaritan Hospice for the kind and gentle care extended to them and also to their daughter.
