Lawrence S. Searight – HOOKSTOWN (GREENE TOWNSHIP)

Lawrence S. Searight, 92, of Hookstown, died Monday morning, February 10, 2014, at Fox’s Stone Pear Pavilion, Chester, WV.

Born July 29, 1921, in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Harrison and Agnes (Brooks) Searight. Mr. Searight had worked as a farmer in the agriculture industry and had also worked at the Hancock County Children’s Home. He served in Europe as a PFC in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Kitty” (Frank) Searight.

Surviving are his four sons, John Searight, Walter Searight, Wayne and his wife Erlene Searight, and Mark Searight; his sister, Virginia McCoy; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. His pastor, the Rev. Nathan Weller, of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Cremation will follow and he will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
