Joyce A. Stewart – Formerly of Shippingport

Joyce A. Stewart, 75, formerly of Shippingport, died peacefully Friday morning, December 23, 2016.

Born October 24, 1941, in Shippingport, a daughter of the late David E. and Helen G. (Johnson) Green, Joyce had worked for Shippingport Boro for a number of years as their clerk. She was a graduate of South Side High School and the Ohio Valley Business School. A lifelong member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church, Joyce loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons who were her pride and joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, David L. Stewart, who passed on February 2, 1994. The couple wed on June 24, 1961, and also by a brother, Robert Green.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brittan and Shawn Williams, New Cumberland, WV; a brother and sister-in-law, William “Bud” and Betty Green, Shippingport, her pride and joy are her grandsons, Austin and Carter Williams. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, on Monday, December 26, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski, of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
