John A. Mayhue – ALIQUIPPA (RACCOON TWP.)
John A. Mayhue, 80 of Aliquippa (Raccoon Township), died unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2012, in Heritage Valley Beaver,
Born July 15, 1932, in Monaca, he was a son of the late Harry G. and Leona H. (Volkman) Mayhue. He was a retired steel worker from the J&L Aliquippa Works, having worked in the 14-inch mill department. He was an avid hunter and was one of the co-founders of the Green Valley Sportsman's Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Delbert Mayhue and two sisters, Charlotte Shylar and Eleanor "Honey" Batten.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Nancy J. (Cook) Mayhue, whom he married Dec. 26, 1951; six children and their spouses, John Jr. (Donna) Mayhue, NC; Cheryl A. (Wayne) Geib, Aliquippa; Mark S. Mayhue, Raccoon Twp.; Scott (Helen) Mayhue, Raccoon Twp.; Richard (Edith) Mayhue, Raccoon Twp.; and Jaynne (John) Yu, N.J.; four sisters, Maryland Phillips, MD; Rowena Siegle, Lancaster; Hazel Kelly, IL and Carol Coberly, Raccoon Twp.; two sisters-in-law, Iris Mayhue, Florida and Martha Mayhue, Raccoon Twp. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public viewing and cremation will take place. Family and friends are welcome to attend his memorial service on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Shippingport Community Center with a luncheon immediately following the services.
Since Jack was a 37-year cancer survivor, his family suggests memorials, in his name, be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
