James Hector Hubbard – Hookstown
James Hector Hubbard, 83, of Hookstown, died Thursday afternoon July 29, 2021, at Victoria Manor, Oakdale. Born July 5, 1938, in Chester, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Raymond and Pearl (Allison) Hubbard. Hector retired from J & L specialty steel in Louisville, Ohio and had worked at J & L Aliquippa works, until it shut down, for 26 years. A 1956 graduate of Chester High School, he was a charter member of the Hookstown VFD, a former Hookstown council member and enjoyed playing drums and had called square dances for Roy Parsons and the Pioneers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lucy Lynn (Wright) Hubbard, his children Barbara (William) Ross of New Cumberland, Michael (Renee) Hubbard of Georgetown and Lisa (Todd) Moore of Hookstown. Brother of Keith Hubbard of Chester, and Sandra (Bob) Gray of East Liverpool.
Cherished grandfather of William and James Ross, Virginia (Ryan) Ford, Brandon (Hillary Lazar) Getz, Taryn (Brian) Price, Brett (Sydney Bruckner) Hubbard, Stephanie (Tom) Janney and Moon Moore.
Great grandfather of Jackson and Lillian Price and Benjamin Getz-Lazar.
In addition to his parents, Hector was preceded in death by brothers Cecil, Richard, and Thomas Hubbard and sisters Sara Hubbard, Patricia Bacon, Linda Graham and Ruby Scott.
Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, today (Sunday) from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where his service will be held Monday at 11 am. Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
