James A. Welch – Hookstown

James A. Welch, 73, of Hookstown, died Sunday afternoon January 13, 2019, in the comfort of his home.

Born April 25, 1945, in Rochester, he was a son of the late John E. and Martha L. (Lance) Welch.

He was the former owner/operator of the Welch Funeral Home in Hookstown, working with his father in the earlier years. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War as a SP4. He was also a member of the Hookstown American Legion Post #952.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Welch.

Surviving is a sister, Susan Donovan and a niece, Melanie Decker, both of Georgia; his lifelong best friend/partner in crime, Roy “Unc” Cox and his good friend and devoted employee, Don Ross.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050 on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where his services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. the Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church will officiate.  He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
