Gladys E. Martin – FRANKFORT SPRINGS

Gladys E. Martin, 86, of Frankfort Springs, passed Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2015, at Providence Health Care, Beaver Falls.

Born May 21, 1929, in Hookstown, she was a daughter of the late William Franklin and Myrtle Irene (Martin) Gerren. A homemaker, she graduated from high School at Burgettstown and soon after married Harry Martin of Frankfort Spring on November 15, 1962; Harry died in August of 1988. She was a caregiver for Harry’s uncle, “Happy” Stephens. Growing up, she helped the family operate the telephone switchboard for the Frankfort Mutual Telephone Company. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making dolls. She had also served on the election board for the village for a number of years. She was a longtime member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and had made lifelong friends.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Myrta Gerren of North Canton, OH; three nephews, Neil (Lisa) of Kent, OH, David of Curtice, OH, and Paul of North Canton; four grandnieces, Allison, Emily, Sarah and Anne, and a grandnephew, Samuel.

Friends and family are welcome to call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. only at MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director. Family and friends are asked to meet Saturday at the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, 3326 Route 18, Hookstown, PA 15050, where her services will be held at 11 a.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Allison Bauer, will officiate.

She will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
