Gertrude L. (Wilson) Mott – Hookstown
With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother Gertrude L. (Wilson) Mott, 93 of Hookstown who passed peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her children and family on Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2024.
One of 4 daughters and a son born to the late Leopha and Alice Mae (Hineman) Wilson in Aliquippa on February 18, 1931. Gert and her sisters were a scrappy bunch, and Gert was an even feistier adult. Never at a loss for words, you knew exactly where you stood with her and she’d let you know it, no matter who you were or where you were at. This trait came in handy during the years she and her husband owned and operated South Side Garage. A trait that lives on in her children, especially her daughters.
She met the love of her life, Blaine W. Mott at a roller rink where at the end of the night, Blaine almost ran her over in the parking lot. The couple married on July 17, 1951 and spent 67 years together until the time of his passing on April 30, 2019. In addition to being a homemaker, she and Blaine owned and operated South Side Garage and the South Side School bus contract.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline Engle, Juanita Davey, Marilyn Romich and her brother Charlie Wilson.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, John Mott and his wife Tish Krakowski, Ralph and Mary Mott, Sherry Mott, Bivian and Jack Moore and Penny and Ed Malloy. Her sister Rosalie Mutkus and her sister-in-law Rose Wilson. Cherished granny of 8, Andrea and Nick Rodriquez, Dakon and Angi Moore, Tiffany and Shawn Skelly, Adam Mott, Brenton Mott, Nicholas and Catherine Venier, Chloe Malloy and Eddie Malloy. Great granny of 5, Brandon Skelly, Brian Skelly, Benjamin Skelly, Alec Rodriquez and Nathan Rodriquez.
