Frank R. Barr – SHIPPINGPORT

Frank R. Barr, 68, of Shipping-port, died Saturday morning, Jan. 7, 2012, in the  comfort of his home with family by his side.

Born July 26, 1943, in Ambridge, he was the last surviving child born to the late Elizabeth Russell. Mr. Barr had worked as a set up man at the Phoenix Glass Company, in Monaca, and later moved into a management position there.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Berlin Crisis. He was a long time member of the Monaca American Legion and loved fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Judie (Maier) Barr, whom he married Sept. 22, 1968; sons and their spouses, Steve (Melissa) Barr, Chester, W.V.; Brandon (Tonya) Barr, Hanover Township and Mark (Amy) Maier, Brighton Township; beloved grandchildren, Steven, Luke, Shane, Madison, Rocco, Mark and his wife, Christy and Sarah; a cousin, Eva May Powell, Rochester; two nieces, Jessica and Stephanie.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gregory Maier.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the McCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held at 8 p.m.

Cremation will follow.
