Dorothy E. Hughes – GEORGETOWN (HANOVER TWP.)

Dorothy E. Hughes, 90, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.), died Wednesday afternoon, September 28, 2016, with her family at her side at Hunter’s Personal Care Home, Aliquippa.

Born April 14, 1926, in Georgetown, she was the last surviving child born to the late Charles and Mary (Laughlin) Campbell. She was a retired custodian from the South Side School District and was formerly a member of the South Side Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed knitting and helping family and friends, always lending a hand.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hughes; a brother, Howard Campbell, and three sisters, Ella Doak, Elsie Tomsine and Elizabeth Moore.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Cathy and Tom Hopkins, David “Kit” and Sharon Hughes, and Shirley and Jim McHaffie, all of Georgetown. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to call Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, where services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski, of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
