Donald R. Short – GREENE TOWNSHIP

Donald R. Short, 60, Greene Twp., died Tuesday evening July 17, 2012 in the Kindred Hospital, Beaver Valley. 

Born in Rochester on Sept. 8, 1951, he was the beloved son of Mary H. (Tate) Short and the late Elmer Ambrose Short who died in 1980. He was a retired military policeman serving with the U.S. Army and a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church, Shippingport.  He was also a member of the Beaver Valley Equipment and Craft Association. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Robin Short and Rob and Glenda Short, all of Hookstown; a sister, Jennie Barile of IL; his nieces and nephews, Ronnie, Samantha, Aiden and Ryden Short; his cousins, Wayne Allison, Joan Foody, Frani Torrence, Linda Tellish, Ruth Anne Gearhart, Jane Davidson, Ronnie Floyd and Denise Lyons; his special aunts, Connie Tate, Rena Moore, Mary R. Short and Vanetta Tate; his special caregivers, Pat Wojtowicz and Jack McGrogan. Also surviving are other special family and friends. 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Pansy Tate, and his paternal grandparents, Bob and Bertha Short.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner / Director, today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. by his pastor, the Rev. Susan Pickering of the Green Valley United Methodist Church assisted by Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church. 

Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
