Donald M. McCoy – ALIQUIPPA (GREENE TWP.)

Donald M. McCoy, 85, of Aliquippa (Greene Twp.), died Saturday evening, October 11, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, with his family at his side.

Born November 30, 1928, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Mont R. and Anna M. (Shay) McCoy. Mr. McCoy was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and trustee, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He retired from LTV Steel, where he had worked as a machinist, and he had also worked at Spectrim Machine Co., Vanport.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jean Harshbarger, Grace Platt and Ruth Rowe.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Fern I. (Starr) McCoy, whom he wed January 31, 1953; his daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Ernie Fox of Spencer, W.Va., Janice and Jay Rohr of Charleston, W.Va., and Marjorie and Darrell Parlier of Taylorsville, N.C.; a brother, John McCoy of Raccoon Twp., and four sisters, Sarah Scarbro of Chester, Betty Brodmerkle of Frankfort Springs, Dolores Searight of Raccoon Twp., and JoAnn McElhaney of Butler. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Christian Rohr, Mitchell Rohr, Claire Rohr, Ben Fox and Bryson Parlier, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director. Everyone attending his services are asked to meet at the Hanover Presbyterian Church, 2462 Route 18, Clinton, PA 15026, on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, where it will be held at 11 a.m. His pastor, the Rev. Jefferson Ellis, will officiate. Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rochester. Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery Wednesday at noon to provide full military honors.

Memorials in Donald’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
