Dolores Ann (Brodmerkel) Ross – HOOKSTOWN (HANOVER TWP.)

Dolores A. (Brodmerkel) Ross, 74, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), died Thursday afternoon, November 21, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian, with her family at her side, after a lengthy illness.

Born May 29, 1939, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Edith (Tarr) Brodmerkel, Dolores was a graduate of South Side High School, class of 1958 and had worked most recently at the Johnston Market in Hookstown, along with other numerous jobs throughout her lifetime. In addition to being a homemaker, Dolores was an extreme NASCAR fan who was particularly fond of Jeff Gordon.

Surviving are her husband, Donald H. Ross, and her children and their spouses, Michael A. and his wife Angela Ross, and Brenda Rae and her husband Denny Floyd, all of Hanover Twp. She was lovingly called Grr and DeeDee by her grandsons, Clayton Floyd and his fiancée Kylee Walrond, and Parker Ross. Also surviving is her stepmother, Betty M. Brodmerkel; two brothers, Joe T. and his wife Dorothy Brodmerkel and Wray L. and his late wife Becky Brodmerkel; a sister, Betty J. and her late husband Victor Mitchell; two stepbrothers, Ronald G. and his wife Deborah Irwin, and Gary L. and his wife Jamie Irwin; a half sister, Susan C. Brodmerkel; three half brothers, Robert L. and his wife Debra Brodmerkel, Clay M. and his wife Beverly Brodmerkel, and Dean A. Brodmerkel; nine nephews and six nieces.

Family and friends are welcome to call Sunday from 12 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director, where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Treese officiating.

She will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
