Delores A. (Currie) Simmons – BEAVER

Delores A. (Currie) Simmons, 77, of Beaver, died Sunday morning, Jan. 6, 2013, in the Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford.

Born Nov. 1, 1935 in Duluth, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late William and Hilda (Jylkka) Efram. Delores was retired from the Batchelor Furniture Co. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Freedom and the Century Club of Beaver.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husbands, Lee Currie, in 1978, and Gene Simmons, in 2011; her daughter, Diane Shaffer and her son, David Currie, in 2011; her brother, John Efram and her sister, Tena Dahlen.

Surviving are her daughters, Sherry Diaz DeLeon of Texas and Louann (Thomas) Niznik of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Currie of Texas. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kayla and Andrew Niznik of Florida, Carla and Christopher (Lori) Shaffer of PA, Michael Ala and Stephanie Sherlock of Texas; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Alexis Shaffer, Samantha Shaffer, all of PA and Corynn Hamilton of Texas.

As was Delores' wishes, there will be no visitation and cremation will take place. Her cremains will be laid to rest beside her husband, Lee, in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.

Memorials, if desired, can be made, in her name, to the American Lung Association or the Brail Center at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 60 Rochester Road, Freedom, PA 15042.
