Betty Lee Smail Cain – GEORGETOWN (GREENE TOWNSHIP)

Betty Lee Smail Cain died peacefully February 24, 2014, at home. She was born in Armstrong County, PA, October 31, 1933, a daughter of the late Clyde F. and Eleanor Parks Smail.

She was preceded in death March 23, 1993, by her husband, Wilmer Carey Cain, whom she married Christmas Day 1954. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Robert F. Smail, and a sister, Judith Ann Murray.

A homemaker and avid genealogist, she was a charter member of the Tri-State Genealogical and Historical Society, who honored her in 2004 with a lifetime membership.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Ellen Wiegers of Chester, WV, and Sarah Eloise Cain of Georgetown, with whom she made her home; two sons, Carey Michael Cain (Rhonda) of Georgetown and Daniel Clyde Cain (Sandra) of Hookstown, and their boyhood friend, Charles F. Johnson of Hookstown, whom she thought of as one of her own; five grandchildren, Grant M. Waxler and his fiancée Elisha Stump, Chester, WV; Travis J. Wiegers, Chester, WV; Kristen L. Cain, Georgetown; Tori N. Cain (Herbert Jenkins), Wooster, OH, and Jonathon W. Cain, Georgetown; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Cain-Jenkins, Wooster, OH, and Arrabella Wiegers, Georgetown. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Carrie Cronin, East Liverpool, OH; a sister, Miss Jo Anne Smail of Clifton Springs, NY; a sister-in-law, Cathryn Record of Canandaigua, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements by MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director. Interment in Mill Creek Cemetery.
