Barbara M. Tate – MONACA (CENTER TWP.)

Barbara M. Tate, 89, of Monaca (Center Twp.), died unexpectedly Sunday morning, December 4, 2016, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born May 18, 1927, in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Jeannette (McIntyre) Irons. A homemaker, Barb enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family and was formerly employed at the Phoenix Glass Company, Monaca, and Hills Department Store, Aliquippa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Tate; a son, Jim Tate;  a son-in-law, Daniel Searight; brothers, Richard, Bill, Alan “Nip” and Jim Irons, and sisters, Peg Hill and Marilynn Parish.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Karen Tate, Tennessee; a daughter, Judy Searight and her fiancé, Denny Dusold, Center Twp.; her daughter-in-law, Vicki Tate, Georgia, and a brother, Bob Irons, Hookstown, and his late wife, Irene. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski, of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church, will officiate.

She will be laid to rest in John Anderson Memorial Cemetery, Aliquippa.
