Barbara Jean Goodman – Georgetown (Hanover Twp.)

Barbara Jean Goodman, 93, of Georgetown (Hanover Twp.) passed peacefully Friday morning October 27, 2023 at Heritage Valley Beaver in the arms of her daughter Mabel. Born March 14, 1930 in Mannington, West Virginia. She was the last remaining daughter born to the late James and Mabel (Hayes) Gill.

A homemaker, Barbara loved to crochet and cook. And loved nothing more than when her house was full of family on Sundays. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 73 years Claude B. Goodman on July 17, 2020, her sisters Florence Baldwin, Wilma Paytors and Eva West. Daughters-in-laws, Barbara Jo Goodman and Mary Lou Goodman and a son-in-law Jim Brinkley.

Surviving is her children Walter Goodman, Roy Goodman, Claude Jr. “Pete” (Sandy) Goodman, William “Burch” (Terri) Goodman, John (Sue) Goodman, Cheryl (Roger) Parrish, Mabel (Larry) Swearingen, Mary Brinkley and Florence (Ted) Soisson. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St. Hookstown, PA. 15050 on Wednesday November 1st from 6-8 pm only, where her service will be held Thursday, November 2nd at 11 am. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church and Barbara’s grandson, the Rev. John Goodman will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
