Anna E. Searight-Whitehill ‘Grandma’ – GEORGETOWN

Anna E. Searight-Whitehill "Grandma", 98, of Georgetown, affectionately known as Grandma, died peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on Saturday evening, December 29, 2012.

Born March 14, 1914, in Raccoon Township, she was a daughter of the late David Harrison and Rachel Agnes (Brooks) Searight.  Mrs. Whitehill was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Georgetown. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Clyde Whitehill in 1990; a son, George Whitehill and a daughter, Mary A. Whitehill.  Also predeceased by four brothers, Bryson, Raymond, David and her twin brother, Brooks Searight.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Earle T. (Alice) Whitehill of Georgetown; Ruth E. (John) Hrizo of Oakmont; David L. (Mary Ann) Whitehill of Georgetown; Joseph C. (Virginia) Whitehill of Springfield, VA; Lois J. (Raymond) Clark of Reidsville, NC and William L. (Julia) Whitehill of Toronto, OH.  Also surviving are her siblings, Lawrence Searight of New Cumberland, WV; Virginia McCoy of North Carolina and Isabelle McChesney of California.  She was the grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 17.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA  15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner/Director, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m.  Her pastor, the Rev. Ken Jacobs of the Bethel United Methodist Church, will officiate.  She will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown, following services.

With deep appreciation the family would like to thank Anna's loving care givers and the Good Samaritan Hospice for all the care and compassion in the care of their mother.
