Andrew G. ‘Bunker’ McHaffie, Sr. – GEORGETOWN

Andrew G. McHaf-fie, Sr., 82, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver on Thursday, February 20, 2014, with family at his side.

Born on January 5, 1932 on the McHaffie Farm in Georgetown, PA, he was the son of the late Donald W. and Esther (Campbell) McHaffie. He was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, Dad, and Pappy who loved his family more than anything in this world. The memories of all of the wonderful holiday celebrations, tractor rides, and visits to the farm will live in his family’s hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 62 years, Lorna L. McHaffie, who passed away on January 25, 2014, and a sister, Mary Alice Adney (her husband, James, survives).

Surviving are his children, Andrew G. McHaffie, Jr., of Hookstown; Shelly Youree and her husband, Cam, of Hookstown, and Sheila O’Neill and her husband, Larry, of Hookstown, and daughter-in-law, Mary Anne McHaffie of New Castle. Also surviving are a brother, Dick McHaffie, and a sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Donald Doak, all of Georgetown. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Teresa (Michael) Hamilton, Gayle Anne (Jim) Marcy, Ryan (Becky) McHaffie, Laura (Kent) Whitaker, Lance Youree, Ross Youree, Jared (Kelly) O’Neill, Shane O’Neill and Andi O’Neill. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive: Brittany, Kellen, Melanie, Tyler, Max, Madelyn, A.J., Logan, Ty, Sydney, and one on the way. A special friend, Norma Brandon, of Georgetown, also survives.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. His pastor, Reverend Willard C. Adkins, of the Georgetown United Methodist Church, will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
