Alice M. Gardner

Alice M. Gardner, 92, passed from this world peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in her home at Apple Blossom Senior Living, where she had resided for the past year.

She was born July 7, 1929, to the late Howard and Minnie (Such) Boyd and graduated from Hopewell High School. She married her husband, Donald in 1948. Alice was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church of Shippingport, where she was a past choir director, Sunday School teacher and Youth Group leader.

She was employed as a secretary at the former Taylor, Smith and Taylor pottery in Chester, WV for fifteen years before retiring in 1976. Later that year, she and her husband co-owned and operated the Foliage House Florist and Greenhouse in Hookstown before retiring from the business in 1989.

Alice and Don lived in Shippingport, but were snow birds and spent part of the year in their home in North Ft. Meyers Florida, where she was a member of the Coral Oakes Country Club. She loved to cook, bake and golf.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John Boyd and her sister Mary Lou Johnson. She is survived by her husband Donald and her niece and nephews Clay, Brett, and Amy Johnson and John M., Steve and Cole Boyd.

Per family wishes there will be no visitation and private burial took place at the Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
