Alex J Lizzi Sr. – Summerville, SC
Alex J Lizzi Sr, 94, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Freedom PA, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born January 18, 1930, in Freedom, Alex was the son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Lodovico) Lizzi.
Alex was preceded in death by his wife Mary Anne (Emerick) Lizzi, his son John A. Lizzi, his brother James Lizzi and his mother and father.
Alex is survived by his sister Rose Fraiser of Vanport Pa, 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Alex Jr. and Janice Lizzi of Pine CO, Thomas and Coleen Lizzi of Allison Park PA, Christopher and Kim Lizzi of Summerville SC, and Joseph and Amber Lizzi of Williamsburg VA. Alex was grandfather to 15 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Alex III, David, Vincent, Katie, Christina, Stephen, Jeanna, Michael, Breanna, Lilian, Victoria, Matthew, and Rhiannon. He was great-grandfather to 13 great grandchildren, Alexandra, Lauren, Jordan, Eli, Everett, Easton, Penny, Peyton, Donovan, Julian, Roman, Kelsey, Colin, Wesley, Winsor, Gwenevere and Gavin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alex was a lifetime member of St. Felix Parish, Freedom, PA. He is a past member and president of the parish Holy Name Society and a former member of the church council. He had served many years as an usher of St. Felix. In 1998, he was honored as the parish’s Man of the Year. A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Alex retired from LTV Steel after 33 years of service. He was an active member of the American Legion and Loyal Order of Moose. Alex was an avid big game hunter and he loved to dance.
Friends will be received Friday, April 26, 2024, in The MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA. 15050 from 4 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10 a.m. in St. Felix’s R.C. Church, 450 13th St. Freedom, Pa. 15042. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Freedom, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Alex’s name to any Veterans Organization of your choice.
