James W. Mercer – BURGETTSTOWN (FRANKFORT SPRINGS BORO.)

James W. Mercer, 78 of Burgettstown (Frankfort Springs Boro.) died Wednesday morning March 23, 2016 at Acuty Specialty Hospital; Weirton, W.V.

Born November 30, 1937 in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was the son of the late Everett Wayne and Sara (Thomas) Mercer. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army, retired from LTV Steel and Walmart at the Pointe in Robinson Township. Continue reading

Joseph ‘Dale’ Brodmerkel – IMPERIAL (FINDLAY TWP.)

Joseph “Dale” Brodmerkel, 55, of Imperial (Findlay Twp.), died Tuesday afternoon, March 15, 2016, in Allentown, PA.

Born May 29, 1960, in Sewickley, he was the beloved son of Joe T. and Dorothy E. (Brown) Brodmerkel of Frankfort Springs. He was a technical consultant with Stafford Cutting Dies of Charlotte, NC. He was a wrestling coach at South Side High School and was one of the group that started the youth wrestling team. He was on numerous softball teams, enjoyed car racing and was an avid golfer. Dorothea Evelyn (Crago) Keifer – CLINTON (HANOVER TWP.)

Dorothea Evelyn (Crago) Keifer, 86, of Clinton (Hanover Twp.), died Saturday afternoon, March 12, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana, Ohio.

Born September 27, 1929, in New Cumberland, West Virginia, she was the last surviving child born to the late Charles Cooper and Esther (Wylie) Crago. A homemaker and avid quilter, Dorothea was also a member of the Community Bible Church, Aliquippa. Continue reading

Donald E. Harshbarger – ALIQUIPPA (GREENE TOWNSHIP)

Donald E. Harshbarger, 65, of Aliquippa, (Greene Township), died Saturday evening, March 5, 2016, at the Kindred Hospital, Beaver.

Born July 1, 1950, in Sewickley, he was one of three sons born to the late Bill and Jean (McCoy) Harshbarger. He was the co-owner of Harshbargers Inc. Propane and Mobile Home Sales. He received his bachelor’s degree from Grove City College and was a member of the Hookstown American Legion. Continue reading
