Leah C. Carothers – KENT, OHIO (FORMERLY OF MONACA)

With sad and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Leah C. Carothers, 35.  She left this world as she came into it with we, her parents, at her side, along with her brother on Thursday afternoon, November 28, 2013, in the Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley.

Born Sept. 23, 1978, in Rochester, beloved daughter of Vince L. and Ruth Leah (Kovac) Carothers, of Monaca; dear sister of Brandon J. Carothers; cherished granddaughter of James and Ruth (Swink) Kovac of Monaca and Minnie Carothers and the late Harry Carothers; also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dolores Ann (Brodmerkel) Ross – HOOKSTOWN (HANOVER TWP.)

Dolores A. (Brodmerkel) Ross, 74, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.), died Thursday afternoon, November 21, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian, with her family at her side, after a lengthy illness.

Born May 29, 1939, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Edith (Tarr) Brodmerkel, Dolores was a graduate of South Side High School, class of 1958 and had worked most recently at the Johnston Market in Hookstown, along with other numerous jobs throughout her lifetime. In addition to being a homemaker, Dolores was an extreme NASCAR fan who was particularly fond of Jeff Gordon. Continue reading

Thomas J. Davidson – FRANKFORT SPRINGS BORO

Thomas J. Davidson, 81, of Frankfort Springs Boro, died Wednesday evening, November 20, 2013, in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.

Born September 24, 1932, in Windsor Heights, WV, he was a son of the late Thomas and Caroline (Brooks) Davidson. Mr. Davidson was a retired diesel mechanic working at J&L Steel for 43 years. He attended the Aliquippa School District and was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church. He was co-owner of the Golfview Manor Nursing Home in Aliquippa and owner of the County Line Restaurant in Frankfort Springs. He was a member of the Monaca Center Lodge No. 791 F&AM, New Castle Consistory and the Pittsburgh Syria Shrine. He was also a former supervisor of Hanover Twp. Continue reading

Robert G. Lockhart – NEW CUMBERLAND, WV (FORMERLY OF HOOKSTOWN)

Robert G. Lockhart, 89, of New Cumberland, WV, formerly of Hookstown, died Tuesday evening, November 12, 2013, in the East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born July 12, 1924, in Hookstown, he was the last surviving son born to the late William Robert and Florence (Snowden) Lockhart. A veteran of World War II, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and was formerly a steelworker in the steel industry and a farmer. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, East Liverpool, Ohio, and was an honorary member of the Hookstown American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, camping and working in his garden. Continue reading

Elizabeth K. Stewart – CHESTER, WV

Elizabeth K. Stewart, 89, of Chester, died Friday afternoon, November 1, 2013, at Fox’s Stone Pear Pavilion, Chester, WV.

Born January 22, 1924, in Aliquippa, she was the last surviving child born to the late Cameron and Ida (Wheale) Kelly.  Also preceding her in death was her husband, Carl V. Stewart in 2000 and a son, Bill Stewart. Continue reading

Eva Maria Wesley, beloved and cherished pre-mature daughter of James and Hannah (Tolikas) Wesley, on Thursday afternoon, October 31, 2013, at Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013, 10 a.m. at Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church, 5005 RTE# 151, Hookstown, PA. 15050. Reverend Nathan Weller officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Falls Cemetery.
