Tom Smitsky Jr. – Hookstown (Hanover Twp.)

Tom Smitsky Jr., 79, of Hookstown (Hanover Twp.) passed peacefully Friday morning, May 17, 2019, in the comfort of his home.

Born June 1, 1939, in Bavington, he was the last surviving child born to the late Tom and Rose (Dragnet) Smitsky. He had worked in the construction industry as a laborer, belonging to Local #833, New Brighton.

In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (McCabe) Smitsky who died September 14, 2012.

Surviving are his children and their spouses, Sherry and Ken Mercer, Peggy and Greg Homol, and Debbie and Jim Simpson, all of Georgetown and Johnny Smitsky of Hanover Twp. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Judy Noble of Weirton and Margie Smitsky of Clinton; grandfather of 11; and great-grandfather of 11.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA 15050, on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. where his services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church will officiate.

He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Grandview Cemetery, Burgettstown.
