Howard P. Cain – Hookstown

Howard P. Cain, 77, of Hookstown died Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Heritage VaIley Beaver surrounded by the love of his family, after a brief illness.

Born September 9, 1941, in Florence, Pa., he was a son of the late Ralph and Gladys (Locke) Cain. He had worked as a rigger at Weirton Steel for 31 years and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army as a SP4. Howard was a member of the Hookstown American Legion and loved tinkering in his yard especially keeping up with the grass cutting. He also enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, country music and hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky S, Johnston on January 17, 2014; a brother, Chuck Cain and two brothers-in-law, Dave Dorn and Bill Jones.

Surviving are his wife of 48 and half years, Susan D. (Moore) Cain whom he married August 6, 1970; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Ronald Floyd of Hookstown; a brother, Ralph (Bonnie) Cain of Butler; sisters, Elva Jones of Paris, Esther (Dave) Anderson of Georgetown, Ada Hargest of Colo., Darlene Cain of Burgettstown and Gerry Dorn of Beaver Falls and a sister-in-law, Sara Cain of Burgettstown. He is the beloved grandfather of seven, Jeremy, Jason, Jenna, Kirah, Jordyn, Tanner and Mallory.

Family and friends are welcome to call Tuesday at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mill Creek Cemetery, Georgetown.
