Donald P. Cox – Hookstown

Donald P. Cox, 81, of Hookstown, died Saturday morning, August 18, 2018, at Heritage Valley Beaver, surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 15, 1936, in Ligonier, son of the late James Harold and Mary Matilda (Barnhart) Cox, he had worked as a laborer for Local 833 in the construction industry. He was a member of the Beaver Valley Antiques Association, and he loved to pull and restore tractors. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and helping anybody who needed help.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold “Bud” Cox.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Doris Marilyn (Kane) Cox whom he married August 3, 1962; beloved father of Donald L. (Melanie) Cox, Calcutta, Ohio; David Wayne (Trish) Cox, Hookstown; Delores Jean (Doug) Dunshee, Colorado; and Daniel Paul (JoAnn) Cox, Clinton; brother of Betty McElhaney, Maryland; George (Nancy) Cox, Newell, W.Va.; Robert (Judy) Cox, Hookstown; Linda (Tom) McGaffic, Georgetown; Roy Cox, Hookstown; and Vicki (Ron) Vaughn, Newell, W.Va.; beloved Pap of eight grandchildren, Josh (Maranda) Cox, Jeremy Cox, Jamie Cox, Landon, Levi and Liam Dunshee, and Hunter and Hannah Cox; and one great-granddaughter, Tori Cox.

Family and friends are welcome to call at the MCCONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 447 Pine Street, Hookstown, PA 15050, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. where services will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Wilmer J. Olszewski of the Hookstown Free Methodist Church officiating. Additional visitation will follow after the service until 8 p.m.
